MEET OUR FOUNDER
SUZETTE COATES
Suzette Steward Coates is the Founder and Executive Director of Camp Journey and Everyday Opportunities.
​
In 2004, Suzette began her career as a devoted and passionate Special Education teacher. While teaching in Katy ISD’s Youth and Child Autism Program (YCAP), she recognized the lack of summer services available for her students. In 2008, Suzette started Camp Journey, a camp that allowed individuals with disabilities to experience traditional summer activities with their peers in a structured and safe environment.
Years later, as she advanced with her students through school, Suzette recognized the need for additional opportunities after graduation. In 2014, Suzette made the heartfelt decision to leave teaching and founded Everyday Opportunities, a community Day Program for adults with disabilities.

Suzette is a caring and dedicated individual. She is married to her loving husband, Colin Coates, who works alongside her in fulfilling her dreams and ambitions. Together they have two children and live in the Katy area.
