SUZETTE COATES
Suzette Steward Coates is the Founder and Executive Director of Everyday Opportunities and Camp Journey.
In 2004, Suzette began her career as a devoted and passionate Special Education teacher. While teaching in Katy ISD’s Youth and Child Autism Program (YCAP), Suzette recognized the lack of summer services available for her students. In 2008, Suzette created Camp Journey, a summer camp program that allowed her students to experience recreational activities with their peers in a structured and safe environment.
Years later, as she advanced with her students through school, Suzette realized the need for additional opportunities after graduation. Suzette then made the difficult decision to leave teaching and pursue her dreams of creating her own day program. In 2014, Suzette opened Everyday Opportunities, a Community Day Habilitation program for adults with disabilities.
Suzette is a caring and dedicated individual. She is married to her loving husband, Colin Coates, who works beside her in fulfilling her dreams and ambitions. Together they have two children and live in the Katy area.
